Be a Light in the Darkness
6.6.26 Outreach
As the World Cup approaches, our city will experience an influx of visitors from around the world. While major events bring excitement and opportunity, they also bring increased risks for human trafficking and exploitation, especially among vulnerable children and teenagers.
As followers of Jesus, we cannot ignore the darkness around us. We are called to be a light in the darkness and to help set the captive free.
On June 6, 2026, churches and believers from across the Kansas City area will mobilize together for a CAN outreach focused on awareness, prayer, and practical action.
Teams will then go together into the community to connect with hotel clerks, truck stops, and other key locations where trafficking risks may increase during major events.
Earlier this year, during a similar outreach, 10 of the 18 children featured on missing posters connected to the effort were found. Stories like these remind us that awareness matters, prayer matters, and people willing to go make a difference.
We believe the Church should not retreat from darkness. We believe we are called into it, carrying the hope, love, and freedom of Jesus.
The outreach will mobilize from Central Assembly in Independence, Missouri, and we would love for you to join us.
These outreaches are:
- SAFE
- EFFECTIVE
- EASY
- COLLABORATIVE
- FAST
