Join us for a fall Commission Youth Bonfire on Wednesday, October 14th. We'll spend the evening gathered around the bonfire with friends, great conversations, and our regular Commission Youth service.

Whether you've been coming to youth for years or this is your first Wednesday, this is a great night to invite a friend and experience what Commission Youth is all about.

We'll provide the hot dogs and s'mores. You just bring yourself, a friend, and a hoodie!

What to Expect:

  1. A bonfire with friends
  2. Hot dogs and s'mores
  3. Games and conversation
  4. A message centered on Jesus changing our unstable lives
  5. A relaxed, fall atmosphere


Parents

Students will meet outside for most of the evening, so please encourage them to dress for the weather. In the event of severe weather, activities will move indoors.

⚾ Take Me Out to the Ball Game! Commission Youth is headed to The K! On Wednesday, September 23, instead of our regular Wednesday night youth service, we’re going to watch the Kansas City Royals take on the Chicago White Sox! 🎟️ Tickets We have 12 free tickets available for Commission Youth students. Tickets will be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis, so sign up as soon as possible if you want to join us![CLAIM YOUR TICKET] Once all 12 tickets have been claimed, students are still welcome to attend by purchasing their own ticket. However, we cannot guarantee that additional tickets will be located near our group. 🚗 Getting to The K We will carpool together from Commission Church. Meet at: Commission Church Departure: 6:00 PM SHARP Please arrive early enough to get checked in and ready to leave. Our vehicles will leave promptly at 6:00 PM. 🍔 Food Please eat dinner before you arrive or bring money to purchase food and drinks at the stadium. Food is not included with your ticket. 🚙 Returning Home We will return to Commission Church after the game. Because the exact end time of a baseball game can vary, parents will receive an update when we are leaving Kauffman Stadium with our estimated arrival time back at the church. ⚾ See you at the game! He has witnessed moments of revival within youth ministry and on the campus, but is believing for the fullness of it across North Texas. He is a campus missionary to sports teams, lunch rooms, and has helped plant Bible clubs in one of the largest high schools in America. Through his ministry, Jackson has seen unchurched students saved, baptized, and healed! Our schools are the spiritual battleground of the nation, “If we lose there, we lose everywhere else.” His desire is to train, develop, and send out youth pastors who’s hearts would be broken for the campus, so revival would invade schools in every community through the church! Save the Date: KC Day of Hope
Sign up to serve Last year, several of us helped out with the KC Day of Hope in 2025. We would love even more of us to join in the effort to bring hope to some of the people in Kansas City this coming September, on September 19th. Dozens of churches and non-profits are partnering together in collaboration with Convoy of Hope to give the residents of Kansas City a glimmer of hope in a dark world. We're going to be offering a kid zone with inflatables, a prayer tent, free haircuts and family portraits, community resources, food distribution, clothing distribution, and other activities for the Kansas City area. Kansas City, MO 64138 Time: Doors Open / Check-in: 9:30am sharp Opening Ceremonies: 10:00am sharp (You really don’t want to miss this so we recommend arriving between 9:30 and 9:45am to give yourself time to find parking and get your crew checked in.) WHAT TO EXPECT 📰 A fun event for the whole family! Activities for all ages such as volleyball, rap battles, wheel of fortune, bounce houses, and a relay race - to name a few. A hotdog and hamburger lunch provided by the church - served at 11:30am. An earlier end time. Camp Day ‘26 will be wrapped by 1pm. All events will be outside if the weather permits. Arrive between 9:30am-9:45am to check in and participate in our pre-event hype games (maybe to earn extra points for your team...) COST 💰 NONE! This is a free event. Micaiah ASAP so that we can readjust our teams and our headcount for food. Q. What if I forget my water bottle at home? A. No worries! We will have some plastic water bottles and Gatorade available for you. Q. I have a pre-school age child. Will there be something for them / who would be overseeing their section of the event? A. Yes! We will have volunteers that have cleared background checks and that work in our pre-school rooms at church running that part of the event. We have an art station and well-supervised bounce houses for them to play on. Q. I don’t really want to run around, will there be something for me to do? A. Of course! We have Wheel of Fortune and other card games ready for you. Q. Will there be a dessert competition this year? A. No, there will not be. However, you can still sign up to bring a dessert to share with others - in fact - we would love that! Q. How long will the event run? A. Psalm 119:11 says: I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. (NLT) At Commission Church, we believe children are capable of knowing God’s Word deeply, not just hearing Bible stories occasionally. That’s why we are excited to relaunch Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) during our Sunday morning Discipleship Hour at 9 AM! This gives you an opportunity to bring your kids to church while you attend our discipleship class in the sanctuary. JBQ is designed for children ages 4 through 5th grade and is one of the most effective discipleship tools for helping kids memorize Scripture, understand biblical truths, and develop a lifelong love for the Bible. Hiding God’s Word in our hearts is one of the greatest gifts I was given as a child. From a young age, I knew God’s truth, and it formed and guided my life. JBQ is a gift to our children. We will be starting Junior Bible Quiz for the fall of 2026 on Sunday, August 9th at 9 am in the classroom What is Junior Bible Quiz? Junior Bible Quiz is a fun, engaging, and scripture-centered discipleship ministry that helps children learn and retain God’s Word through: Bible memorization Interactive questions and answers Team participation Friendly competition Foundational doctrine and theology Weekly discipleship and encouragement Kids are challenged to grow in their understanding of scripture while building confidence, friendships, and a deeper relationship with Jesus. During the school year, our JBQ teams also compete one Saturday morning each month against other churches in exciting quiz competitions. These events give kids the opportunity to work together, apply what they’ve learned, build friendships, and grow in confidence while having an incredible amount of fun. Every child participating in JBQ will receive a binder containing all of the official JBQ questions and material. This binder will serve as their primary study tool throughout the year as they memorize scripture and grow in biblical understanding. JBQ is only as successful as the families make it. While we are committed to investing in children each Sunday morning, one hour of practice, teaching, and training is not enough to truly hide the Word of God in our kids’ hearts. JBQ is a discipleship tool, and real spiritual formation happens when families intentionally engage with scripture throughout the week. As parents practice verses, review questions, and encourage consistency at home, children begin building lifelong foundations in God’s Word. We do not simply want children to attend church. We want them to know the Bible, recognize the voice of God, and build their lives on truth. In a world constantly trying to shape our children, we believe we must actively work to form them through the Word of God. There’s something about getting lost in a giant corn maze, laughing with friends, and enjoying a crisp fall evening that makes for an unforgettable night. If you’re new to CYA, this is also a great low-pressure event to meet people and get connected. Prayer Service and Youth Time Change
TLDR Commission Youth and our Midweek Prayer Gathering now both meet starting at 6:30pm. We’re moving to a later time to better serve working individuals, families, and parents dropping off students for youth. Our prayer gathering is becoming a more structured and interactive experience with guided prayer, worship, and community connection. Midweek Is Changing at Commission Church Starting next Wednesday, both Commission Youth and our Midweek Prayer Gathering will meet from 6:30. For a while now, we’ve recognized that our previous 5:30pm start time created challenges for many families and working individuals trying to get across the city after work, school, practices, and dinner. We want midweek ministry to be accessible, life-giving, and realistic for the people we’re trying to serve. This adjustment creates space for more people to participate in both youth ministry and prayer together. A Better Rhythm for Families Commission Youth will continue meeting every Wednesday night, but now with an earlier start time. At the same time, we are intentionally relaunching and reshaping our Midweek Prayer Gathering into a more structured and meaningful experience. For many parents, Wednesday nights often become a drop-off and pick-up routine or a waiting period filled with unstructured dead time. We want to create an opportunity for those moments to become spiritually meaningful, too. Instead of simply waiting, parents and adults can now gather together for prayer, connection, worship, and encouragement while students are in youth service. Why Prayer Matters + A Real Story One of the things we love about prayer gatherings is how they connect real life to real faith. Alison S. is a great example of this. Many times, she has come into prayer carrying burdens from conversations she had with coworkers earlier that same day. Her coworkers know she belongs to a praying community. They know there are people who will stand with them in prayer. Many times a month, she comes with their requests because she has built a reputation for caring for her co-workers. That’s the kind of culture we want to continue building at Commission Church. A place where people know they are not alone. A place where burdens are shared. A place where faith becomes active in everyday life. Be a Light in the Darkness 6.6.26 OutreachSign up here As the World Cup approaches, our city will experience an influx of visitors from around the world. While major events bring excitement and opportunity, they also bring increased risks for human trafficking and exploitation, especially among vulnerable children and teenagers. As followers of Jesus, we cannot ignore the darkness around us. We are called to be a light in the darkness and to help set the captive free. On June 6, 2026, churches and believers from across the Kansas City area will mobilize together for a CAN outreach focused on awareness, prayer, and practical action. Teams will then go together into the community to connect with hotel clerks, truck stops, and other key locations where trafficking risks may increase during major events. Earlier this year, during a similar outreach, 10 of the 18 children featured on missing posters connected to the effort were found. Stories like these remind us that awareness matters, prayer matters, and people willing to go make a difference. We believe the Church should not retreat from darkness. We believe we are called into it, carrying the hope, love, and freedom of Jesus. The outreach will mobilize from Central Assembly in Independence, Missouri, and we would love for you to join us.
