This Week's Message

Watch the sermon from this Sunday👇

What Are You Doing With What God Gave You? | David Bailey | Matthew 25:14–30

What Are You Doing With What God Gave You? | David Bailey | Matthew 25:14–30

🔥 WHAT IF GOD ISN’T ASKING YOU FOR MORE, BUT ASKING WHAT YOU’RE DOING WITH WHAT HE’S ALREADY GIVEN YOU?

Your time. Your money. Your abilities. Your relationships. Your opportunities.

Everything you have represents something God has entrusted to your care.

But are you using those gifts for His purposes, or simply holding on to them?

In this message from Commission Church, David Bailey explores Jesus’ Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25 and challenges us to examine how we manage the resources, responsibilities, and opportunities God has placed in our lives.

📖 CREATED TO BE FRUITFUL

From the very beginning, God created humanity with purpose.

In Genesis 1:28, God commands humanity to be fruitful and multiply. That calling reminds us that our lives were never meant to be lived without purpose or responsibility.

God has entrusted each of us with something valuable.

The question is: What are we doing with it?

💰 WHAT DOES THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS REALLY MEAN?

In Matthew 25:14–30, Jesus tells the story of a master who entrusts his servants with different amounts of wealth.

Two servants faithfully multiply what they’ve received. Another allows fear to keep him from doing anything with his master’s resources.

This parable challenges us to consider what faithfulness looks like in everyday life.

🙌 In this sermon, you’ll be challenged to consider:

• What the Bible teaches about stewardship and responsibility
• Why God gives different people different resources and abilities
• How faithfulness requires action, not simply good intentions
• What might be holding you back from using what God has given you
• Why following Jesus should transform every area of your life

✝️ FAITHFUL WITH WHAT YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21

These are words every follower of Jesus should long to hear.

But faithfulness doesn’t begin someday when we have more money, more time, or better opportunities.

It begins with what God has entrusted to us today.

Whether you’re a longtime Christian or just beginning to explore faith, this message invites you to examine your priorities and consider what it means to live a life of purpose.

❤️ What is one thing God has given you that you could begin using more faithfully?

KC DAY of HOPE Testimony

KC Day of Hope 2026: Hope in the Heart of Kansas City Summary: ❤️ 700 people were served at the 2026 KC Day of Hope. 🙌 250 volunteers and 20 church and community partners came together to serve Kansas City. 🌎 Your giving helped make it possible. Commission Church financially sponsored the outreach through Engage Network Ministries. What happens when churches and community partners come together with one goal: to love our city and share the hope of Jesus? This year's KC Day of Hope at Central Park gave us a glimpse. On September 19th, 2026, hundreds of people gathered at Central Park for a day of serving families, meeting practical needs, building relationships, praying together, and sharing the Gospel. And this year, attendance doubled from 2025! Look What Happened! The numbers tell an incredible story of what can happen when the Church works together. 700+ people served 37,000 pounds of food distributed Dozens of people were prayed for in the name of JESUS 250 volunteers 20 church and community partners And throughout the day, families also had access to a community resource fair, free haircuts, inflatables, prayer, and Gospel conversations. Behind every one of those numbers is a person, a family, a conversation, and an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus. Giving away food and providing community resources matters. But the Day of Hope is about more than what someone takes home at the end of the day. It's about creating opportunities for the local Church to be present in our community. Throughout the event, volunteers had opportunities to pray with people and have Gospel conversations alongside meeting tangible needs. That's the kind of impact we want Commission Church to continue being part of. Your Giving Helped Make This Possible Commission Church, thank you for giving. Because of your faithful generosity to our church, we were able to financially support Engage Network Ministries and help sponsor this year's KC Day of Hope. When you give to Commission Church, you're helping us do more than keep the lights on or fund what happens inside our building. Your generosity allows us to partner with ministries doing Gospel-centered work throughout our city and beyond. Mass outreaches like the Day of Hope simply aren't possible without people faithfully giving. You gave. Our church was able to give. And together with churches, organizations, and hundreds of volunteers across Kansas City, 700 people were served. Thank you for giving! We're Already Looking Forward to 2027 This year's Day of Hope doubled its attendance from 2025, and we're excited about what God could do next. We're already looking forward to next year's KC Day of Hope, and we're praying that Commission Church can play an even greater role in serving, giving, volunteering, praying, and sharing Jesus with our city. This is what it looks like to impact our world, right here in Kansas City. Thank you to everyone who gave, served, prayed, and helped make the 2026 KC Day of Hope possible.

Ministry and cross cultural living requires a lot of adaptability! Last week I flew to the coast to learn and help teach kids in school on sexual abuse awareness with my dear friend Rachel, who serves with ProtectMe Project. But due to paramilitary activity schools closed for a few days. So we did some virtual teachings with parents, time was spent with ministry friends in the house and many schools were interested in having more presentations done at their schools in the future. Overall it was a win! But in a way none of us expected...sometimes things don't go how we plan or end how we think so it can be easy to overlook what God is doing. May we always ask, Lord show me where you're at in this moment and situation. Help me see what you see. Membership Class October 2026

Membership Class: Find Your Place at Commission Church If you’re new to Commission Church and have decided that this is a church community you want to be part of, Membership Class is your next step. Membership is more than having your name on a list. It is a commitment to a local church community, its mission, and the people God has placed around you. Over three Sunday mornings, we’ll talk about who Commission Church is, what we believe, where we’re going, and what it means to belong here. TLDR Membership Class meets October 4, 11, and 18 from 9:00–9:45 a.m. Plan to attend all three classes. This class is for those who are new to Commission Church or want to learn more about committing to our church community and mission. New members will be introduced and celebrated during Worship on Sunday, October 25.SIGN UP FOR MEMBERSHIP CLASS What Is Membership at Commission Church? We believe following Jesus was never meant to be done alone or outside the local church! The local church gives us a community where we can worship together, grow as disciples, serve one another, and participate together in the mission Jesus has given his Church. At Commission Church, our mission is to commission and mobilize passionate followers of Jesus to encounter God, connect with others, and impact our world. Membership is one way of saying, “This is MY church community, and I am committed to participating in our shared mission.” If you’ve been attending Commission Church, getting connected, and believe God may be leading you to make Commission your church home, we’d love for you to join us. What We’ll Cover Our Membership Class takes place over three Sunday mornings, giving us time to talk through several important parts of who we are. Our History: Learn where Commission Church came from and the story God has been writing through our church. Our Mission: Discover why Commission Church exists and how our mission shapes what we do as a church. Our Beliefs: We’ll walk through the core biblical beliefs that define our church, including some of our Assemblies of God and Pentecostal heritage. Our Commitments: Membership means more than attending on Sundays. We’ll talk about what it looks like to commit to one another and participate in Commission Church's life and mission. The Benefits of Membership: We’ll explain what it means to formally belong to Commission Church and the opportunities and benefits that come with membership. There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get to know our church better along the way. 📅 Class Schedule Sunday, October 4 9:00–9:45 a.m. Sunday, October 11 9:00–9:45 a.m. Sunday, October 18 9:00–9:45 a.m. 📍 Commission Church 11801 E Bannister Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138 Classes will meet in Room 1 of the Classroom. Because each week covers a different part of membership, participants should plan to attend all three sessions. Is Membership Class for Me? Membership Class is designed for people who are newer to Commission Church or are considering making this their church home. Not sure if you’re ready? Ask yourself: Do I consider Commission Church my church home, or am I moving in that direction? Am I ready to move from simply attending to actively belonging and participating? Do I want to better understand Commission Church’s beliefs, mission, and direction? Do I want to use my gifts, time, and resources alongside others to help accomplish what God has called our church to do? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this class is for you! You don’t need to know everything about Commission Church before signing up. That’s part of why the class exists. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and prayerfully consider what it means to call Commission Church your church. What is required to become a Member of Commission Church? A profession of faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ Participation in the Christian faith evidenced by water baptism Completion of the membership class Completion of the membership covenant and spiritual gifts test 🎉 Celebrating Our New Members Membership isn’t something we want to complete quietly behind the scenes. On Sunday, October 25, we’ll take a portion of our 10:15 a.m. Worship Service to introduce and celebrate our new members as a church family. We want our church to know who is saying yes to making Commission Church their church home, and we want to celebrate that commitment together. Your Next Step If you’re ready to learn more about Commission Church and what it means to move from simply attending toward belonging, participating, and committing to our mission together, sign up for Membership Class. Our first class begins Sunday, October 4 at 9:00 a.m. All you have to do today is sign up. Everyone will receive a copy of their membership covenant, membership packet, and information about the Spiritual Gifts test during the first class on October 4.SIGN UP FOR MEMBERSHIP CLASS
