LUNCH INFORMATION Part of the registration price includes lunch on both Monday and Friday. Lunches will be in Sedalia, Missouri. Each student will have a budget at the restaurant where we stop. Students will not need cash for these meals since they are included in the registration price. CAMP DRESS CODE This is set by the campground. Clothing must be modest and appropriate. The chest and stomach must be covered. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must be at least a 4-inch inseam or equivalent. Modest swimwear is required. Clothing should be suitable for physical activity. CAMP RULES Campers must follow the dress code at all times. Attendance at all camp activities is required unless permission is granted otherwise. Campers may not leave campgrounds without permission. Tobacco, drugs, and alcohol are forbidden. Cell phones, firearms, knives, fireworks, and communication devices are not allowed. Camp reserves the right to inspect personal belongings. Campers may not enter dorms other than their assigned dorm. Certain camp areas are off limits unless involved in approved activities. Expressions of affection are limited to holding hands. Campers are expected to help with assigned duties. Rooms and surrounding grounds must be kept clean daily. Please review the Money Band FAQ before departure.Money Bands FAQ PACKING ONE SUITCASE OR DUFFLE BAG PER CAMPER. Please pack the smallest suitcase possible — you will have to carry your bag to the dorm from the car, which may be a long walk. One additional small backpack, drawstring bag, or fanny pack can be brought for daily use. It must fit with the student in or below their seat in the car. Our camp has a NO PHONE policy. No camper is permitted to have a phone at camp. All communication is facilitated through our church volunteers and pastors. Safety All volunteers are screened and background checked prior to approval to work at camp. Camper safety is taken seriously and we are committed to protecting our kids. Any areas of concern will be relayed to our Camp Director, church staff, and respective parents. HOMESICKNESS We try not to allow kids to call home, as it often worsens the situation. Should we feel your child needs to call home, that will be delayed until our Camps Head Dorm Leaders (Leaders at our camp, not our church volunteers) determine that the homesickness is not manageable. Calls home often lead to early pickups, and we want our campers to make it all week and get everything God has for them. Should this happen, our head dorm leaders will contact parents with the Kids Pastor to review next steps. LICE CHECK We will conduct a lice check for each camper prior to departure for camp. EMERGENCIES In the event of an emergency, our staff will call the family in question. Please note Ps. Abram's number, as he will be the primary contact in the event of an emergency. BEHAVIOR Our camp has a list of policies to handle behavior internally. We do not desire to ever send a child home from camp and work hard to deal with any issues that arise. There is no physical or isolation-style punishment at our camp. FAQ WHAT WILL THE KIDS DO AT CAMP? SOMO Kids Camp will be filled with swimming, rock climbing, mini golf, roller skating, water games, special ministry services, and lots of other activities. HOW MANY CAMPERS ARE AT EACH CAMP? Expect between 400–600 kids. WHAT IS THE RATIO OF DORM LEADERS TO KIDS? We follow the National Standard of 1 worker per 8 children. ARE THERE LICENSED MEDICAL PERSONNEL AT CAMP? Yes. All medications must be turned in to the medical personnel and distributed through them. IS THERE A DRESS CODE AT CAMP? Yes. Clothing must be modest and appropriate. Modest swimwear is required (one-piece suits preferred). Shorts, shirts, and dresses/skirts must be an appropriately modest length. WHO ARE OUR CAMP SPEAKERS? Visit the Kids Camp homepage for a list of speakers: somoag.org/ministry/children HOW LONG DOES CAMP LAST? Camp runs from Monday at 1:00pm to Friday at 10:30am. WHAT IF A CAMPER HAS FOOD ALLERGIES? Campers with organic, health, or digestive allergies may bring their own food in a cooler to be checked in at the First Aid Station. All food must be dated and labeled. Please inform us in advance so we can ensure adequate storage. There is no tuition deduction for bringing outside food. SHOULD CAMPERS BRING MONEY? Yes. There will be a snack shop (French fries, soda, ice cream, etc.), a camp store (apparel, gifts, toys), and one missions offering taken during the week. On Wednesday, September 23, instead of our regular Wednesday night youth service, we’re going to watch the Kansas City Royals take on the Chicago White Sox! 🎟️ Tickets We have 12 free tickets available for Commission Youth students. Tickets will be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis, so sign up as soon as possible if you want to join us![CLAIM YOUR TICKET] Once all 12 tickets have been claimed, students are still welcome to attend by purchasing their own ticket. North Texas Youth Ministries
Youth Alive Director Jackson, in his heart of hearts, is a revivalist. He has witnessed moments of revival within youth ministry and on the campus, but is believing for the fullness of it across North Texas. He is a campus missionary to sports teams, lunch rooms, and has helped plant Bible clubs in one of the largest high schools in America. Through his ministry, Jackson has seen unchurched students saved, baptized, and healed! Our schools are the spiritual battleground of the nation, “If we lose there, we lose everywhere else.” His desire is to train, develop, and send out youth pastors who’s hearts would be broken for the campus, so revival would invade schools in every community through the church! FAQ: Can my student invite a friend? Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Students attending Convention for the first time receive 50% off registration, making the cost just $60. What if my family can't afford Convention? We never want finances to keep a student from encountering God. Scholarship assistance is available. Complete the Scholarship Application linked above, and we'll work with you to make sure your student can attend. When is payment due? Convention payment is due by November 1. Beginning November 2, a $25 late fee will be added. Where do we meet for departure? Meet at Commission Church on Friday, November 20. Our goal isn’t only to raise money. We want to help our kids develop a lifelong heart for generosity, missions, and reaching people with the Gospel. Kids can bring their BGMC offering to Commission Kids or families can give online using the Give to BGMC button below. Why We’re Giving We believe kids don’t have to wait until they’re adults to participate in the mission of God. Through BGMC, our Commission Kids get an opportunity to pray, give, learn about missionaries, and discover what God is doing around the world. A few dollars may not seem like much, but when kids from churches across the country give together, their generosity can make an incredible impact. More importantly, we’re helping our kids learn something that can shape the rest of their lives: God can use what I have to help someone else know Jesus. What Is BGMC? BGMC stands for Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge and is the missions giving program for kids in the Assemblies of God. BGMC helps provide missionaries and ministries with the resources they need to share the Gospel and meet practical needs around the world. Through BGMC, kids aren’t simply learning about missions. Prayer Service and Youth Time Change
TLDR Commission Youth and our Midweek Prayer Gathering now both meet starting at 6:30pm. We’re moving to a later time to better serve working individuals, families, and parents dropping off students for youth. Our prayer gathering is becoming a more structured and interactive experience with guided prayer, worship, and community connection. Midweek Is Changing at Commission Church Starting next Wednesday, both Commission Youth and our Midweek Prayer Gathering will meet from 6:30. For a while now, we’ve recognized that our previous 5:30pm start time created challenges for many families and working individuals trying to get across the city after work, school, practices, and dinner. We want midweek ministry to be accessible, life-giving, and realistic for the people we’re trying to serve. This adjustment creates space for more people to participate in both youth ministry and prayer together. A Better Rhythm for Families Commission Youth will continue meeting every Wednesday night, but now with an earlier start time. At the same time, we are intentionally relaunching and reshaping our Midweek Prayer Gathering into a more structured and meaningful experience. For many parents, Wednesday nights often become a drop-off and pick-up routine or a waiting period filled with unstructured dead time. We want to create an opportunity for those moments to become spiritually meaningful, too. Instead of simply waiting, parents and adults can now gather together for prayer, connection, worship, and encouragement while students are in youth service. Why Prayer Matters + A Real Story One of the things we love about prayer gatherings is how they connect real life to real faith. Alison S. is a great example of this. Many times, she has come into prayer carrying burdens from conversations she had with coworkers earlier that same day. Her coworkers know she belongs to a praying community. They know there are people who will stand with them in prayer. Many times a month, she comes with their requests because she has built a reputation for caring for her co-workers. That’s the kind of culture we want to continue building at Commission Church. A place where people know they are not alone.

A place where faith becomes active in everyday life. Bradfords August Update
We hope you have had a great summer! As students are heading back to school and families are getting back to their typical rhythms, we are continuing to itinerate. We have BIG news regarding our itineration: We have raised 50% of the monthly commitments we need!!! And we are close to reaching 60% of that same number. We are SO grateful for and happy with this progress. We are pushing to be fully funded by the end of November, just 3 months away! It has burned over half of their oldest and largest nature reserve. Thousands of people across Belgium and Europe overall have been forced to evacuate because of the growth of the fires. Pray with us for the people of Belgium and all those affected by the wildfires across Europe. Missions Update: Amanda Berger Aug 2026
Missions Update | Colombia This month, we received an encouraging update from one of our missionaries serving in Colombia. While there are reasons to celebrate, there are also urgent prayer needs we want to share with our church family. Read Amanda’s update below: Thursday Evangelism Every Thursday morning I join my local church to minister to ladies working in prostitution. We pray with them, provide a snack with Scripture, and work to train them in other crafts to help them generate income in a different way when they are ready. Some are also struggling with substance abuse, so I have been intentionally focused on connecting with those individuals. Rehab Ministry This month I was able to connect with a few rehabilitation centers in the area and share a devotional! My hope is to build strong relationships and begin ministering weekly at several different rehabilitation centers in order to disciple individuals during their time in rehab and connect them and their families with local churches after they leave the program. Please pray that God continues to open these doors and establish lasting relationships. A Speed the Light Miracle In July, I received my Speed the Light vehicle! I am so grateful to receive this miracle. Thank you for your generosity that enables missionaries to have reliable vehicles. Having this vehicle allows me to minister in places that would otherwise be unreachable or unsafe for me to travel by bus or taxi alone as a single female. [Note from Ps. Abram: For over 15 years, I have personally been giving money to Speed the Light, supplying cars like this across the world! Each time I see a STL VEHICLE, I am overwhelmed that our money can be used for God’s Kingdom across the world!] Earthquake Update On Monday, August 10, Colombia experienced a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that lasted four minutes, an unusually long amount of time. The epicenter was about an hour away from me and was felt over a wide radius. Thankfully, all AGWM [Assemblies of God World Missions] personnel serving in Colombia are safe. I was asleep in my apartment on the 13th floor when it happened. I grabbed my puppy and ran down the stairs. It felt like being on a boat that was hit by strong waves while trying to walk down stairs at the same time. Thankfully, my building is structurally sound, and I am back in my apartment, which miraculously doesn't even have a single crack in the wall! Other apartments in the building experienced superficial damage, and I am so grateful for God's protection over my home. Armenia experienced a devastating earthquake in 1999 that changed building engineering standards, which I believe helped reduce the devastation this time. However, the trauma from that event, along with the recent earthquake in Venezuela, has left many people feeling anxious. Towns near Pereira, Cali, and Manizales are still searching for missing people beneath the rubble. The national church is gathering food, water, hygiene supplies, and volunteers to distribute aid throughout the affected areas. I will be joining these efforts to meet physical needs while also sharing the hope of Jesus. How You Can Pray For those who are still missing to be found. For God's provision for families who have experienced devastating loss. For supernatural comfort and peace from the Holy Spirit for those living in fear and anxiety. For wisdom, strength, and open doors as I continue ministering through Thursday outreach and rehabilitation centers. Strength, wisdom, and protection for our missionary as she serves the people of Colombia. A story from DW in the Gulf
Embracing Unexpected Interruptions “Being in this country again was not a part of *the plan*.”
“I’m *supposed* to be in the Gulf right now.” “I’m not *supposed* to be here.” These are a few of the repeated thoughts I’ve had since the war has delayed my move to my intended destination. I’ve been so grateful to return to the field, to be with amazing teammates, and to be back in this country; yet, I have still wrestled with this unanticipated change of location. Questioning “why” and wondering what God is doing in me and in this season of “not yet” and waiting for the next season to start. Despite my wrestling, Jesus has shown Himself faithful and that He is still at work! A specific testimony came from an unexpected interruption. Much like this particular season! Some of you may remember I came to help with the internship program here. Thank you for praying for them! They all had an incredible 5 weeks encountering God’s love and calling over their lives and over this region. Their first weekend in country we took them to many tourist locations – around the region – so they could see the country as a whole before starting language study and team life. After 2 long days, I was very ready to return home for a shower and sleep. But as it happened, this was the very night I met my neighbor for the first time. I greeted the father, hoping this would just be in passing. However, he answered with the appropriate cultural response, inviting me over for tea with him and his family. So with a nudge from Jesus, I delayed my shower, dropped off my bags, and visited them. We exchanged pleasantries, introduced ourselves, and I sat with their adult daughter, Natalie*. After about 45 minutes of chatting, we ended the visit, but not before they invited me back for a meal a few days later. I brought one of our intern girls with me when I went back, and I had no idea what these visits would open up… After we ate, the intern needed to leave for a meeting, and Natalie* and I went for a walk around our neighborhood. We talked about life and God! We shared about our differing views on religion. I told her about the importance of Jesus and how we were all made in God’s image – both of which were strange concepts to her. However, the most impactful moment of our time together was at the end of our walk. We rested on a park bench where Natalie* shared about some struggles she had been having with mental fog and loneliness. I asked her if I could pray for her in that moment, and she said immediately said yes. It was a touch from the Lord that she was thirsty for! I ended the prayer “in Jesus’ name,” and she reported feeling a lot better. Wiping away tears, she couldn’t stop hugging and thanking me. I pray this prayer and our conversations repeat in Natalie’s* mind, and she begins to have a curiosity about Jesus and a life lived with Him. God showed me His intentionality behind interruptions. That it’s not about a timeline, a location, or what *should* be or *should not* be. It’s all about Him. Whether big interruptions or small ones, Jesus is at work. He made this day, and He has intentions for it. He put me here in this season, and He has intentions for it! “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 Prayer Requests Natalie* - that she would become interested in Jesus! Wisdom within my witness and showing Jesus to my friends here Preparations and prayers for my upcoming move to the Gulf, I fly out mid-August! Thank you as always for your support and prayers! Story from Colombia: Forced to take Drugs
Reposted from a message from Amanda Berger: Story: The need is so great the government doesn't even know where to start... WINS: It's been a few days since our Chi Alpha team left - it was an amazing week of ministry with several highs including 6 salvations, but I'm stuck thinking about an interaction I had Saturday night... We were ministering at a youth small group, the team came ready with a sermon but God changed their heart to share on persecution, not really sure why but in obedience changed the sermon. At the end of the night one of the youth leaders shared with me that her nephew who attends the group was asked to do drugs a while back, and said no. He was beaten for saying no and has since been forced to do drugs. My heart shattered at this reality many kids and youth face here. The accessibility & affordability of drugs...and society's indifference, or avoidance, of all those struggling with addiction. I've met with many pastors and been told multiple times, "Amanda, the need is so great the government doesn't even know where to start; we are overwhelmed with need." In the face of overwhelming need, I'm reminded that we serve a God bigger than any need, system, or plan. A God who sees each individual as His child and has a plan for redemption for all of them. Would you pray for: Open doors & wisdom on where to start Pastors & individuals willing to serve Thank you for being a part of breaking cycles and making disciples in Colombia! A day in the life: familiar, yet different. You asked for more a day in the life of a missionary so here we are. First, let me break any illusion that missionary life doesn't have mundane parts, because boy does it. In fact, I just had a month full of mundane adult chores with all the obstacles that come with them: Apartment hunting Attending 80 hr of drivers licensing class Buying a car (pic to come) Oh, and train a puppy These things are familiar things we do in the USA, but in a different language & a different country with their own rules & regulations - some of which you don't know until you break them. It's taxing on the mind and body. While the achiever in me wants to say, geez, Amanda, that's all you did? I can proudly say I DID ALL OF THAT! So whatever you're doing today that feels mundane, or like it's not moving the needle, remember God is in the mundane & necessary parts of life as much as he's in the mountain top moments.

Psalm 119:11 says: I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. (NLT) At Commission Church, we believe children are capable of knowing God’s Word deeply, not just hearing Bible stories occasionally. That’s why we are excited to relaunch Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) during our Sunday morning Discipleship Hour at 9 AM! This gives you an opportunity to bring your kids to church while you attend our discipleship class in the sanctuary. JBQ is designed for children ages 4 through 5th grade and is one of the most effective discipleship tools for helping kids memorize Scripture, understand biblical truths, and develop a lifelong love for the Bible. Hiding God’s Word in our hearts is one of the greatest gifts I was given as a child. From a young age, I knew God’s truth, and it formed and guided my life. JBQ is a gift to our children. We will be starting Junior Bible Quiz for the fall of 2026 on Sunday, August 9th at 9 am in the classroom What is Junior Bible Quiz? Junior Bible Quiz is a fun, engaging, and scripture-centered discipleship ministry that helps children learn and retain God’s Word through: Bible memorization Interactive questions and answers Team participation Friendly competition Foundational doctrine and theology Weekly discipleship and encouragement Kids are challenged to grow in their understanding of scripture while building confidence, friendships, and a deeper relationship with Jesus. During the school year, our JBQ teams also compete one Saturday morning each month against other churches in exciting quiz competitions. These events give kids the opportunity to work together, apply what they’ve learned, build friendships, and grow in confidence while having an incredible amount of fun. Every child participating in JBQ will receive a binder containing all of the official JBQ questions and material. This binder will serve as their primary study tool throughout the year as they memorize scripture and grow in biblical understanding. JBQ is only as successful as the families make it. While we are committed to investing in children each Sunday morning, one hour of practice, teaching, and training is not enough to truly hide the Word of God in our kids’ hearts. JBQ is a discipleship tool, and real spiritual formation happens when families intentionally engage with scripture throughout the week. As parents practice verses, review questions, and encourage consistency at home, children begin building lifelong foundations in God’s Word. We do not simply want children to attend church. We want them to know the Bible, recognize the voice of God, and build their lives on truth. In a world constantly trying to shape our children, we believe we must actively work to form them through the Word of God. Please note all the resources below before we depart, so you will be best prepared to send your camper prepared to have a great week and receive all that God has in store! Ps. Prior to departure, all students will turn over all electronic equipment, including phones, tablets, smart watches, and other electronic devices. Lunches On the day of departure and return, we will stop for lunch on the way to and from camp. This cost is built into your student's camp registration. (573) 365-0600 Medicine ALL personal medications (including vitamins, herbs, essential oils, enzymes, and other supplements), either prescription or over-the-counter, MUST come in the original packaging or containers and/or include a doctor’s note with dosage information (if needed). All medications must be brought to the first aid station at check-in for administration to the participant. NO pill organizers or planners are allowed. Please place medications in a clear Ziplock bag with all medicines in their original containers. Write your name and Commission Church on the front of the Ziploc bag. Give all medications to Ps. You can access that below You will get an update on our return ETA to the church via text.Photos from camp MONEY BANDS We will be using Money Bands at camp — a cashless system accepted everywhere on camp. Please review the Money Band FAQ before departure.Money Bands FAQ PACKING ONE SUITCASE OR DUFFLE BAG PER CAMPER. Please pack the smallest suitcase possible — you will have to carry your bag to the dorm from the car, which may be a long walk. One additional small backpack, drawstring bag, or fanny pack can be brought for daily use. It must fit with the student in or below their seat in the car. Our camp has a NO PHONE policy. No camper is permitted to have a phone at camp. All communication is facilitated through our church volunteers and pastors. Safety All volunteers are screened and background checked prior to approval to work at camp. Camper safety is taken seriously and we are committed to protecting our kids. Any areas of concern will be relayed to our Camp Director, church staff, and respective parents. HOMESICKNESS We try not to allow kids to call home, as it often worsens the situation. Should we feel your child needs to call home, that will be delayed until our Camps Head Dorm Leaders (Leaders at our camp, not our church volunteers) determine that the homesickness is not manageable. Calls home often lead to early pickups, and we want our campers to make it all week and get everything God has for them. Should this happen, our head dorm leaders will contact parents with the Kids Pastor to review next steps. LICE CHECK We will conduct a lice check for each camper prior to departure for camp. EMERGENCIES In the event of an emergency, our staff will call the family in question. Please note Ps. Abram's number, as he will be the primary contact in the event of an emergency. BEHAVIOR Our camp has a list of policies to handle behavior internally. We do not desire to ever send a child home from camp and work hard to deal with any issues that arise. There is no physical or isolation-style punishment at our camp. FAQ WHAT WILL THE KIDS DO AT CAMP? SOMO Kids Camp will be filled with swimming, rock climbing, mini golf, roller skating, water games, special ministry services, and lots of other activities. HOW MANY CAMPERS ARE AT EACH CAMP? Expect between 400–600 kids. WHAT IS THE RATIO OF DORM LEADERS TO KIDS? We follow the National Standard of 1 worker per 8 children. ARE THERE LICENSED MEDICAL PERSONNEL AT CAMP? Yes. All medications must be turned in to the medical personnel and distributed through them. IS THERE A DRESS CODE AT CAMP? Yes. Clothing must be modest and appropriate. Modest swimwear is required (one-piece suits preferred). Shorts, shirts, and dresses/skirts must be an appropriately modest length. WHO ARE OUR CAMP SPEAKERS? Visit the Kids Camp homepage for a list of speakers: somoag.org/ministry/children HOW LONG DOES CAMP LAST? Camp runs from Monday at 1:00pm to Friday at 10:30am. WHAT IF A CAMPER HAS FOOD ALLERGIES? Campers with organic, health, or digestive allergies may bring their own food in a cooler to be checked in at the First Aid Station. All food must be dated and labeled. Please inform us in advance so we can ensure adequate storage. There is no tuition deduction for bringing outside food. SHOULD CAMPERS BRING MONEY? Yes. There will be a snack shop (French fries, soda, ice cream, etc.), a camp store (apparel, gifts, toys), and one missions offering taken during the week.
