Waiting Is Hard | Dr. Fel Bagunu | Song of Solomon 3:1–5
Waiting Is Hard | Dr. Fel Bagunu | Song of Solomon 3:1–5
🌙 WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN LONELINESS MAKES YOU RESTLESS?
At 2 AM, anxiety can get loud. We want to be known. We want to be seen. We want connection. And when waiting becomes painful, it can become tempting to chase relationships, validation, or intimacy before the right time.
In this message from our Sacred Symphony series, Dr. Fel Bagunu walks through Song of Solomon 3:1–5 and shows us why waiting is hard, but loneliness is an awful driver.
📖 In Song of Solomon 3, a young woman becomes restless when she cannot find the one she loves. Rather than waiting, her anxiety sends her searching through the city at night. Her experience gives us a remarkably relevant picture of relationships in our own culture.
We may not wander the streets of ancient Jerusalem, but we scroll at 2 AM. We reread old texts. We chase likes, dating apps, superficial connections, and sometimes unhealthy relationships because being alone feels worse than ignoring the warning signs.
But God offers us another way. ❤️
✨ In this message:
• Why loneliness can lead us toward unhealthy decisions
• How anxiety affects dating and relationships
• Why God's boundaries are meant to protect us
• Why we shouldn't ignore the "guardrails" God places in our lives
• How anxious attachment can suffocate healthy relationships
• Why real intimacy requires time, commitment, and emotional safety
• How to embrace seasons of singleness without seeing them as punishment
• Why our deepest identity must be grounded in Jesus
💬 Key Reminder:
“Loneliness is an awful driver.”
When we're desperate for connection, it's easy to rush something that needs time to grow. Our culture offers microwave relationships, but biblical love develops through commitment, trust, respect, and patience.
❤️ If you're single or waiting:
Protect the pace. Stop chasing people who only want you when it's convenient. Don't mistake a quiet season for God's punishment. You are worth a relationship characterized by commitment, respect, and mutual effort.
Most importantly, don't ask another person to provide an identity that can ultimately only be secured in Christ.
🙏 Your identity is found in Jesus.
God's love isn't frantic. He isn't ghosting you. He isn't playing games with your heart. His love is steady, and you can trust Him even when waiting is hard.
